The aim of study. The article analyzes the species composition of sources and the degree of informativeness of documents of the personal archival fond of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Ukraine I. M. Fedorchenko, deposited in the fonds of the Institute of Archival Studies of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, which reflect the preconditions, course and results of the scientist on powder metallurgy, which took place in the United Statesand Canada during 1965-1973. The research methodology consists in the application of historical-retrospective, historical-comparative, historical-chronological, historical-typological and historical-systemic methods. This approach allows to analyze the species composition of sources and informative potential of documents ofthe scientist’s personal fond in order to identify areas of its activity in spatial and chronological aspects, as well as the state of powder metallurgy in foreign countriesat the same time with the USSR. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the introduction into scientific circulation of a new set of archival sources, which significantly complements the overall picture of the international activities of the famous Ukrainian scientist in the field of metallurgy, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine I. M. Fedorchenko and the disclosure of the peculiarities of the scientist’s participation in international conferences on powder metallurgy during 1965-1973. Conclusions. It was found that the participation of Academicianof the NAS of Ukraine I. M. Fedorchenko in international conferences on powder metallurgy, held in the USА and Canada, was of great importance for acquaintance with advanced world technologies in powder metallurgy and to develop international communication with the world’s leading scientists, as well as to promote the scientific achievements of domestic science.
