SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS OF HİMAYE-İ ETFAL SOCIETY
Abstract
Each country in the world has a fundamental duty to protect children. Since the beginning of history, it has been essential to protect children. In the Ottoman Empire, the protection of children was an important concern from the beginning. There was a change in the world's social structure following the First World War, with many children becoming orphans as a result. The shelter and protection of these children required the establishment of a new institution. As a result of the institution established for this purpose in 1917, a large social gap was filled. The Himaye-i Etfal society is the subject of many studies, but we obtain the most information about the health status of the children and the places where they live by examining in detail the Dispensaries, Firuzağa Guesthouse, Kalender Ziraat Dormitory, which are the principal areas of the society's activities. This study, which is based upon official documents of the Himaye de Etfal Cemiyeti, will examine the first dispensaries and their working areas, Firuza's Guesthouse and its duties, as well as the budget and working areas for the calendar Ziraat Dormitory.
