Over the years, the endeavour of teaching / learning FFL (French as a Foreign Language) came to be no longer considered as a mere developing of knowledge and skills on the linguistic elements of the language, which encompass its lexical, semantic, syntactic, morphologic or phonetic aspect. Learning FFL has to be achieved within the confines of its cultural framework, including ways of living and the different idiosyncratic behaviours of the French people. Songs, which recently have taken the more popular form of music videos, constitute a material which allows the FFL learner to explore not only the linguistic dimension but also the cultural requirements accompanying it. However, a proper implementation of this technique calls for a pertinent pedagogical intervention. This study is an attempt to provide an overview of some pedagogical tracks which proved helpful for the adoption of songs and music videos as a pedagogical tool, accounting for the advantages of this technique in promoting FFL learning.
