Spiritual and intellectual essence of pedagogical activity

The article is dedicated to the assessment and investigation of the major problems, associated with the spiritual crisis of the modern society, as well as its impact on the contemporary educational system of Ukraine. Additional attention of the investigator is paid to the set of the following psychological and pedagogical categories: spiritual and moral education of an individual; phenomenon of spiritual culture; spiritual potential of an individual. The major scientific approaches towards interpretation of the above listed categories are investigated in the scope of this article. The author has conducted an assessment of the spiritual and intellectual essence of pedagogical activity through such concept as spiritual intelligence of an individual as well as its potential in terms of increasing the level of spirituality in the «teacher-pupil» dyad. It was revealed by the author that the current realities of the social development create the fertile background for the new social request in terms of prepetition of further educations as the major organizers of the educational process. These requests are mainly oriented on the development of educators’ spiritual intelligence and as an outcome – achievement of the harmony between the moral and intellectual values of all particulates of educational process. Special attention of the author is dedicated to assessment and evaluation of the foreign experience of investigation of such category as spiritual intelligence of an individual – as the leading type of intelligence, which is inherent only to humans and represent the biological potential, which uses the spitball information in the process of addressing the life challenges and organization of the life, while referring to the spiritual and moral principles. The author has conducted a research of such category as «spiritual intelligence» through such notions as «spirituality» and «intelligence». Intelligence is the practical application of the available mental resources, skills and abilities, which are needed for increasing of life productivity and achievement of the high rate of self-understanding. Spirituality is the ability of an individual for free choice of the own opinion, preferred type of activities and organization of life on the principles of Beauty, Goodness and Truth. Thus, the spiritual and intellectual essence of pedagogical activity is represented by the author as using by the teacher of available resources for pupil’s orientation on organization of one’s own life, while referring to the principles of Beauty, Goodness and Truth and as an outcome, actualization of the free choice of one’s conception of the world though the perspective of above listed categories.
