In this paper, we dealt with the socioemotional adaptability of adolescents who are the beneficiaries of secondary school studentsʼ dormitory. Considering the fact that the circumstances in which these young people live are special, the research aims at determining whether adolescents in secondary school studentsʼ dormitory have adaptation problems and, if so, to what extent these problems are expressed. The sample consists of 61 pupils of the first year of secondary school, 37 boys and 24 girls aged 15 and 16 who are beneficiaries of the services of the Secondary Schools Student Dormitory in Jagodina. We used the descriptive research method, and from the correlation measures the Spirman's correlation coefficient was used, and also the hi-square test. (χ²). The research uses The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaires – SDQ (Goodman, 1997). The results show that 51 respondents (83.6%) were assessed as being adapted. A full-scale result that is indicative of professional psychological assistance appeared with a total of 4 (6.6%) respondents. Eleven respondents (18.03%) had high need for professional assistance in at least one sphere of research, and 19 respondents (31.15%) had a moderate need for assistance. The highest number of respondents expressed the need for professional assistance in subscale of emotional difficulties – 6 (9.8%) and behavioral problems – 6 (9.8%). The largest number of students in the category of moderate need for professional help was recorded on the subscale problem with peers – 10 (16.4%). There is a positive and moderately statistically significant association between the subscale problems of behavior and hyperactivity and between the subscales of emotional difficulties and hyperactivity.
