In most European institutions of higher education, language specialists are introduced to the teaching-learning of the languages they specialize in. Training traditions can often vary between countries – and even within the same country. What happens when students from two different countries meet online and discuss teaching plans that they have prepared for their own teaching context? In spring 2008, five groups of two MA Finnish and Rumanian students in French studies were asked to work together through a chatting device. Based on cyberanthropology, our paper outlines the processes of discovering the Other and of co-constructing the Self and the Other.
