Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of parents towards children literature. Carried out in fall semester of 2011-2012 academic years, this study adopted correlational survey approach within descriptive research methods. The sampling of the research consists of 118 parents of whom the children studying in the second part of the elementary school situated in Çanakkale city center. As a data collecting tool, a questionnaire was developed by the researcher (2012), which was prepared by a rigorous literature reviewing process. The differences between the gender and perceived level of parents towards children literature, and those of having a home library and perception of children literature were determined by t-test. The sub-dimensions of perception level of parents towards children literature and salary, and book count read per year were determined by variance analysis. As a result, it was not found any meaningful difference between gender-salary-home-library and sub-dimensions related to perception level of parents towards children literature. However, it was found a meaningful difference between structural perception level of parents towards children literature of whom the children read at least 21 books per year, and their sharing with children related to lecture.
