Tumores de las glándulas salivales menores intraorales
Abstract
Fourty-four cases of tumors of intraoral minor salivary glands have been seen at the Department of Pathology, Instituto Nacional de Cancerología, over a period of 15 years. Clinical features, treatment and posterior evolution were evaluated in each histological group. Findings were compared with similar series published from other countries. The ratio of 1:4 between the incidence of tumors of minor and major salivary glands is higher than that reported by most other authors. There were no conspicuous histological differences between the two groups. Malignant neoplasms predominated (59 per cent): most frequent tumors were pleomorphic ádenomas and adenoid cystic carcinomas. Low grade mucoepidermoid carcinomas generally showed an un favorable course. Of special interest were a mixed tumor of the lower lip, an oncocytoma of the palate and a mucous-secreting aderrocarcinoma of the tongue.
