In the second part of XVIII Century and the first decade of XIX Century, the Viceroyalty of New Granada was characterized by the social mobilityand the accelerated process of miscegenation;it was the scenario where appearance was associated to honourability and quality of blood. The importance of wear and show a status was reinforced not only by the purity of blood imaginary but also by the baroque rhetoric. The distinction based on exteriority and the theatrality of courtesan imitation was a symptom of the complexity of social transformations in this period.
