A radiation recall phenomenon induced by aromatase inhibitors
Abstract
Radiation recall phenomena induced by aromatase inhibitors have been poorly reported to the literature. We hereby report the case of an 85-year-old woman who presented a cutaneous recall reaction to letrozole (Femara©), one month after the end of radiotherapy. Treatment was changed to exemestane (Aromasin ©) in an attempt to maintain aromatase inhibitors but one month later, the patient presented a recurrence of the cutaneous lesion. Aromatase inhibitors have then been definitively discontinued and tamoxifen was introduced. The pathogenesis and prevention of this phenomenon still needs scientific clarification.
