This article was conceived as an essay on the relations between historians and modernity. However, we follow a specific conducting wire that consists of presenting some reflections about the perspective of studies propagated by the "School of the Annales" concerning the ecclesiastical representations of time in the Middle Ages. However more than an examination of the historiography, what we intend to analyze is as the time experience that this circle of historians, one of most influential of the present time, designed to the medieval clergymen contains close relations with the form of insertion of the authors in modernity
