Abstract

This article was written in order to determine the impact of Âşık Sümmânî who he is one of the representatives of the Erzurum minstrelsy tradition in the minstrel tradition. Âşık Sümmânî is a minstrel that has a unique way and style in eastern Anatolia and Erzurum minstrelsy surroundings. This shows that he is a minstrel with high strength and particularly the creative power of art. He has established himself with unique “ağız” or “tavır”, “atışma”s with a strong minstrel of the period, and still unique content and stylistic features. Minstrelsy understanding and application of Sümmânî was continued by minstrels representing his “kol” after the Sümmânî’s death. In article, as discussed further Sümmânî’s “ağız” at the same time were evaluated effects of Sümmânî's poems and stories on the traditions.
