La Maraña
Non-profit organization led by Puerto Rican women for the promotion of participatory and sustainable models of urban planning, research, and design. La Maraña seeks the inclusion of Puerto Rican voices in the creation of our cities and communities and in the development of governance and management models.
ARECMA
The Recreational and Educational Community Association of the Mariana Neighborhood of Humacao is a community-based organization registered in 1982. Its mission is to ensure the well-being and integral development of the neighborhood and its people through the organization and active participation of its residents.
Using passive water collection strategies, La Maraña and ARECMA, together with the community of Mariana, design and construct an autonomous emergency water supply system, crystallizing decades of struggle for the right to water in the face of a fragile public network and an absent State.
