The aim of this article is to analyze the relationship between Colombia and Israel during the presidency of Álvaro Uribe (2002-2010) in the light of the national role theory introduced by Kalevi J. Holsti (1970). Until 2001 the relationship between the two countries was complicated by the distance between them and various problems, but after 2002 this situation changed, and the two nations became very good allies and commercial partners. This article aims to explain that the shift toward a new relationship is, among other things, in response to the fact that both states share the role of anti-terrorist agent, both locally and globally, framed in a context of global war against terrorism sparked by the September 11th attacks.
