Background: the effects of SARS-CoV-2 on women during the first trimester of pregnancy, together with other risk factors, are still unknown. Objective: to explore clinical, demographic and laboratory variables as risk factors that lead to complications and abortion in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 during the first trimester of pregnancy. Methods: a descriptive study was carried out with a group of pregnant patients admitted to the Cuban Hospital of Qatar during July and August 2020. The sample was made up of 15 patients aged 18 years and over, with pregnancy in the first trimester, divided into two groups, according to the obstetric state: abortion or continuation of pregnancy. Demographic, clinical and laboratory variables were assessed. Results: Most of the patients included in the study were Qatari. In the group with abortion an average age of 31 years was registered, gestational age less than 11,6 weeks, with a greater presence of overweight and obesity. The presence of comorbidities showed a probable relationship with abortion 33 %, p=0,036. There was no relation with alterations in the laboratory studies. There was no severity in the infection with SARS-CoV-2, nor complications, with a short hospital stay. Conclusions: in the studied cases the existence of comorbidities showed a probable relation with abortion.
