The current study aims to identify the mediating role of the affective commitment (AC) between the human resource management practices (HRM) and the organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) in a sample of Colombian bosses. Previous research indicates that HRM have an impact on the commitment, while this one affects the performance. However, there is not enough research on the mediating role of the commitment (AC) on HRM practices and staff behavior. The study was quantitative, non-experimental and cross-sectional. 1037 bosses from 13 Colombian firms conformed the sample. The findings confirm that AC is a mediator between the HRM practices and the OCBs. So, when employees perceive existence, quality and coverage on some of the HRM practices, it positively impacts their affective bonds with the organization. Besides, they develop behaviors in benefit of the organization and their co-workers even if those weren’t defined in the employee’s job
