At the end of World War II, the United Nations has carried out its well-known goals for more than four decades. Since its inception, a key feature of the international community has been the Cold War between two major blocs in the international community, the Socialist Bloc led by the Soviet Union (previous) and Capitalism led by the United States of America. During the Cold War, the United States was following a clear course of action to contain Soviet expansion (at this time) anywhere in the world and to build a massive arsenal of nuclear weapons to deter the Soviet Union from using military force against the United States or its allies.
