The objective of the research is to analyze the level of competitiveness of the macanero artisans of the Gualaceo Canton of Azuay Province-Ecuador. It followed a descriptive methodology with a non-experimental field design, addressing a population sample of 36 macaneros artisans. As there is no legal organization, they are not taken into account by the central government to work in a more coordinated way. Ikat is a traditional economic activity that does not have a tolerable profit margin; The main cause is the low competitiveness it presents in the face of articles or garments, a cause for which the tradition is in danger of disappearing due to the low revenues that are perceived and this triggers a phenomenon which generates little interest to learn this technique. The artisans subsist by carrying out other types of activities and / or through the remittances they receive from their relatives from abroad.
