Drummond: event and emergence of a new subject – interview with Alain Badiou

Abstract

In an interview, the French philosopher Alain Badiou (1937 -) comments some poems of Carlos Drummond de Andrade (1902-1987) in the light of his theory of the event (événement) and the production of subjectivity. The conceptual role of the poem is debated both in the period called "age of the poets" and its functioning as necessary and uncertain appointment break, once the system of subjective expectations has been suspended.
