Kosovo experience of Niš's priest Tadija Kostić in 1915: Diary
Abstract
The author of this diary, the priest of Niš, Tadija Kostić, has summed up in his numerous manuscripts the experience of his stay in Kosovo and Metohija at the end of 1915, besides other things. Together with other companions, the author confronted the unfamiliar experience. Their physical existence was endangered - on one hand, they were threatened by the powerful enemies from northern parts of Serbia, and on the other, they were devastated by Albanians who were the majority at Kosovo and Metohija. Author's most detailed writing was about his stay in Pristine and Prizren. The poor status of refugees - poverty, hunger, diseases, winter - was in the shadow of their main dilemma: where should they go next? Refugees looked for their rescue by escaping towards Montenegro. This manuscript ends with the short description of their trip through Podrimlje.
