Mechanism and performance of the rice supply chain in Gorontalo: A SCOR model approach
Abstract
The long chain is one of the factors contributing to the high rice prices. The study aimed to examine the performance and mechanism of the rice supply chain in Gorontalo Province. The research was conducted between April and July 2023, and it involved surveying 150 actors within the supply chain, including rice mill operators, paddy farmers, and other stakeholders. The study used descriptive and SCOR analysis methods to analyse the data. The findings showed that Gorontalo’s modern rice supply chain mechanism involves horizontal information, product, and financial flows. The supply chain has ten distribution channels within and outside the Gorontalo region. The study also revealed that the performance of the rice supply chain in Gorontalo Province is generally excellent, with reliability, responsibility, flexibility, cost, and asset management falling into the superior category. However, daily supplies and costs fall into the advantage and parity categories. It is essential to focus on reducing input values and maximising output values to improve the performance and efficiency of the rice supply chain. Effective management and supervision are also necessary to optimise the three flows within the rice supply chain mechanism.
