Initially, the issue of educational evaluation is addressed through a series of questions that include from what to evaluate to for whom to evaluate. Next, the concept of meaningful learning based on Asubel's cognitive approach is developed to conclude with a proposal for the implementation of the evaluation of meaningful learning in the teaching task, emphasizing the implicit complexity of the process for collecting evidence of the topics learned, as well as the challenges involved in evaluating meaningful learning, highlighting three main aspects: the importance of the construction of evaluation tools; the integration of self-evaluation and co-evaluation, to obtain a comprehensive approach to evaluation; and the generation of a new and contextualized evaluation culture
