Abstract

This article is part of an analysis of Algerian author Malika Mokeddem's vision of France. A host country considered, for all the femalecharacters of the work, as a source of invaluablefreedom. It ispainted as the opposite of the original land synonymous of all hostilities. This space, whichrepresents a part of a Western covetedsinceearlychildhood, becomes the "paradise" rediscovered to use the expression of the narrator of My Men. Our workconsists of an analysis of the underpinments of the will of the femalecharacters to turn to an elsewheredreamed and consideredbetterthantheir native environment. The idea of ourstudyis not part of a theoretical dimension thatseeks to highlight Westernism as "a notion thattakesintoaccount in Eastern culture anyform of reference to phenomena of Western culture" and itseffects on French-language Algerian literature, but itaims to exploit a worldview of the figure of a West throughliterarywriting.
