SWI/SNF remodelers alter histone-DNA interactions and are important for regulating chromatin architecture and gene expression. Here, the authors present the cryo-EM structure of a nucleosome-free Swi/Snf complex from Saccharomyces cerevisiae and discuss the assembly and function of SWI/SNF remodelers.
