Abstract
The pavilion, the family and the heritage: the proceeding of a researchThe book Les Pavillonnaires adressed the pavillion in two ways: its formal aspect and the form of tenure – ownership – linked to it. Nevertheless, the intergenerational dimension of this kind of family property has not been properly taken into consideration. This article shows how urban sociology and sociology of family had to put their forces in common in order to stress the extended family involvements engaged into entering home ownership. It shows also how, as the youngsters enter home ownership later and later and as life expectancy gets longer, family transfers are exposed to new tensions that call for examination.
