Abstract
El presente artículo expone las circunstancias en las que se produjo un brusco cambio de sucesión durante el reinado de Andrónico II Paleólogo (12821328), quien en el año 1321, tras la muerte de su hijo mayor y heredero Miguel IX (1320), excluyó de la sucesión imperial al hijo de éste último, Andrónico III, colocando en su lugar a su segundo vástago, Constantino, y principalmente al hijo bastardo de éste, Miguel Katharos, situación que sería el preámbulo a la Primera Guerra Civil entre los Paleólogos.The present article exposes the circumstances in which an abrupt change in the succession which took place during the reign of Andronikos II Palaiologos (1282-1328), who in the year 1321, after the decease of his eldest son and heir Michael IX (1320), excluded from the imperial succession the latter's son, Andronikos III, putting in his place his second son, Constantine, and above all the latter's bastard, Michael Katharos, a situation that would be the preamble to the First Civil War between the Palaiologoi.
