Social Media Usage Behavior Aimed at Improving the Quality of Life of the Elderly in Roi Et Province

This study was quantitative research, investigating the relationship and the difference of social media usage behavior for improving the quality-of-life of the elderly in Roi Et Province. The study was conducted on elderly people who were living in Roi Et city zone and who were users of smart phones, tablets or computers; 314 people were randomly selected in purposive random sampling. The research tool used a questionnaire with a content validity of 0.79 - 0.85 and a coefficient of alpha Cronbach 0.93. for the part of the sample that replied. The general data were analyzed by descriptive statistics. Relationships were determined by the Chi square statistic and the difference was determined using the one way ANOVA (F-test) statistic. It was found that the behavior of the elderly used social media daily, the duration of the elderly using social media and the purpose of the elderly using social media. There was a relationship with overall improving quality-of-life of the elderly at the statistical significance level of 0.05. The daily usage social media, the period of usage of social media, the duration of usage social media and the different on purposes of usage social media affected an overall improvement of quality-of- life at the statistical significance level of 0.05. For usage of social media, the period of and the different on purpose of usage affected the difference of improving quality-of-life in 4 aspects and was tatistically significant at the 0.05 level.
