doi: 10.12957/geouerj.2017.32069 The article here described analyses the contribution of the Brazilian Geographic Journal periodical in relation to agrarian studies in Brazil and its articulations with the traditional thinking, neopositivist (quantitative) and critical; thoughts that marked the geography in our country and have contributed to the theoretical and conceptual foundation and its applicability to empirical studies. That said, this article seeks to uncover this contribution in the period extending from 1940 date of the first publication of the periodical until 2005, achieving 65 years of publications. The questions that guide this research are: what is the IBGE contribution through RBG journal to the Brazilian agrarian studies? And what is the relation of the published articles with the geographical lines of thought in agrarian studies.
