Between the years of 1630 and 1654, the West India Company (West-Indische Compagnie, or WIC) has used in its service thousands of men to move a war of conquest, expansion and maintenance of Brazil. Despite many scholars have written about the historical period called Dutch Brazil and have done research about different aspects, the history of the people recruited in Europe for the service of war of the WIC is still unknown. The objective of this article is to cover up this gap in the historiography and to show how the recruited were inserted in a more wide circuit of migration in the Atlantic.
