Preparation and characterization of the solid tin(II)-EDTA complex and influence of thermal treatment on the morphology of SnO2 residue
Abstract
The synthesis of tin(II)-EDTA solid complex is described and its characterization carried out through elemental analysis, infrared absorption spectroscopy, X Ray diffractometry and nuclear magnetic resonance of 1H and 13C. The thermal behaviour is evaluated through termogravimetry (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) curves in inert and oxidizing atmospheres suggesting steps of thermal decomposition to the chelate. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) shows different morphologies to oxide residues obtained at 1200oC depending on the heating heat used.
