Background: protecting maternal and child health is a priority of the national health system. Pre-conceptional reproductive risk is one of the components or areas of reproductive health care. Objective: to describe the results of the pre-conceptional genetic risk assessment and the prenatal genetic risk in women from Las Tunas, attended to between 2012 and 2017.Methods: a descriptive, retrospective study was carried out on the control of genetic pre-conceptional risk and prenatal genetic risk, at the provincial department of medical genetics of Las Tunas, during the period of time previously declared. The following variables were measured: number of patients assessed at the pre-conceptional genetic risk consultation and at the prenatal consultation; classification of patients, risk and types of risk. Results: from 2012 to 2016 there was a tendency to a decrease in the number of patients assessed at the pre-conceptional risk consultation; altogether 50,2 % was classified as pre-conceptional genetic risk, 57,2 % of whom was classified as genetic pre-conceptional risk to congenital malformations. In 2016 and 2017 there was a higher proportion of patients assessed with increased genetic risk with 54,2 % and 60,55 %, respectively. Conclusions: the genetic pre-conceptional risk and the prenatal genetic risk were described, where congenital malformations predominated.
