Local and inter- regional impacts in employment and income of farming and livestock in the State of Paraná

The aim of this study is to analyze the local impacts and inter-regional income and employment multipliers of Paraná’s farming and livestock as well as indexes to link backward and forward and employment generation. The agricultural sector employed 4.16% of formal workers in the state in 2009, standing out as one of the most important. The input-output theory is a tool for analyzing the structure of the economy, allowing the estimation of economic indicators. The methodology added the 42 categories of the MIP 1995 and 2009 for 20 sectors, adjustment necessary in view of the local skills and the compatibility with the data from 87 categories of NCEA. From the results it is concluded that agriculture in Paraná indicators fluctuated between 1995 and 2009, however with better than that found in Brazil Rest of performance, reinforcing the importance of the sector at the state level. Emphasis on the employment multiplier in the analyzed period increased its value of 1.68 to 1.84; whereas the average of the sectors there was a decline in the state economy from 2.60 to 2.19.
