Origini sociali, risorse culturali familiari e apprendimenti nelle scuole primarie: un’analisi dei dati Pirls 2006
Abstract
This work examines the influence of cultural resources on the learning outcomes of students attending the fourth year of primary school in Italy. Based on the Pirls 2006 data, we show that, over and above the cultural skills of the parents, their active involvement on informal learning activities and on the homework of their children affect to a significant extent the learning outcomes of students. Moreover, the possession of cultural resources and their active mobilization explain to a substantial extent the influence of social origins on educational achievement.
