Abstract

This work aims to regard the “samozvanstvo” in the Gogol’s work as a phenomenon, not only historically and culturally associated with Russian history, but also a distinctive feature of the Russian spirit, associated with the desire to find oneself in the “other”, to dissapear in the “other” or to find a firm stronghold in this mirage. This work elaborates on the beginnings of several basic paths of metamorphosis that the phenomenon has undergone in the works of Puskin, Gogol and Dostoevsky.
