The present article intends to discuss the scenarios of Law 11,645/2008 in which it treats of the indigenous peoples' theme. To this end, it was investigated how the legislation is applied in the daily life of a school of the municipality of Santo Antônio de Leverger, state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, and, starting from the data, sought to present some interpretations and propositions. The study was conducted during the months of April and May 2018 through a Rapid and Participative Diagnosis (WHITESIDE, 1994). And the instruments for collecting information were a questionnaire and the drawings made by the students. The Result of the research evidenced that we need more effective actions within the educational units for a more emancipatory and critical learning about the indigenous peoples in Brazil, in the state of Mato Grosso and especially in the municipality of Santo Antônio de Leverger.
