Que sont les classes sociales devenues ? Stratification, inégalités et mobilité sociale au Chili
Abstract
During the last twenty years, beyond the economic growth and of the reduction of poverty, Chile has gone through sedimentation of the structure of classes arisen from the economic transformations of the 1970s and 1980 and from the reorientation of the economy towards the sectors of export of raw materials, farm produces and fish. The results of the National Survey of Social Stratification applied in 2009 allow to bring to light at the same time in a synchronic and diachronic way the strengthening of the middle classes of the Chilean society, thanks to the consolidation of the very diverse middle class layers, but also – and paradoxically – the polarization of the extremities of the social pyramid, accompanied with a stronger rigidity of the processes of social mobility.
