Rehabilitation in a child with cerebellar and brain damage on the right he-misphere as a consequence of cerebral stroke
Abstract
The success of neuropsychological rehabilitation depends on its duration and intensity. Nevertheless, there is still the question that remains related to the possibility of showing positive results in subjects with brain damage after several years since the event. The objectives of the study were to describe the case of a child with early brain damage in the right hemisphere and cerebellum with an evolution older than ten years, to present strategies for assess-ment and evidence about his rehabilitation. The study method consisted of a “Clinical study case” through the qualitative analysis of the neuro-psychological syndrome during the pre and post-assessment. Results obtained in the study allowed to determine a better functioning level of functional systems for the practical, ludic, graphic and verbal actions, as well as improvement on the muscle tone and balance. The evidence is discussed in terms of the importance of assessing disorders, including physiological/organic, psychophysiological, psychological and verbal levels to establish interventional programs directed to the cause and not the symptom, supported on the guiding activity of the psychological age
