Performance of some Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] Genotypes Double Cropped in Semi-Arid Conditions
Abstract
The research was performed to determine suitable soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] genotypes with high seed yield grown at doublecropped in semi arid conditions. Seed yield and yield components were investigated in 25 soybean genotypes obtained from Karadeniz andÇukurova Research Institute in Turkey. In 2003 and 2004, experiments were carried out at the Harran University, Faculty of Agricultureresearch and application farm land in Şanlıurfa Turkey. According to the combined analysis of two years, seed yield was ranged from 2482kg ha-1 to 3945 kg ha-1. Of the 25 genotypes, Irogious, Alhow and Macon were determined to be adaptable to semi arid conditions andyielding the highest. Significant and positive correlations between seed yield and number of pod per plant, number of fruit branch perplant and 1000 seed weight were also determined in this research.
