There are two tendencies represented in the area of phraseology: the tendency towards the stability of the components and the tendency towards their updating. The first tendency provides their memorization. The second one provides the dynamics of the form and contents of phraseological units. It’s realized through phraseological variants and transformed phraseologisms. The aim of the research is to analyze varying and transformed phraseological units as representatives of linguistic creativity of the linguists. The objects of the research are phraseological units and the subject are types and specifics of functioning of varying and transformed phraseologisms. 100 phraseologisms which were recorded in the linguistic discourse of O. I. Bondar, S. Ya. Yarmolenko and Yu. O. Karpenko were the basis of the research. Different types of phraseological variants (phonetic, morphological, word-formative, and lexical) are analyzed. It’s found out that transformed phraseologisms are the result of the component composition modification (expansion, substitution). All the phraseological units reflect national thinking, Language world view of the personality and linguistic creativity of the scientists.
