The Javanese language used in Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace as a media communication is still dominant with its speech levels. In the palace, communication uses language levels from ngoko, madya, krama, krama inggil, and even kedhaton language. The purpose of this study is to describe the form of verbal interaction, factors, and social function of Javanese language in the palace. This research is a qualitative research by taking the location of research in Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The data used in the research namely Javanese in daily activities and traditional ceremonies in the palace. Oral and written form the data of the research. The data is provided by the method of recording, observation, and interview. In the data analysis using the speech component approach. From the results of the study it is concluded that the form of the use of Javanese language used by abdi dalem is influenced by vertical and horizontal relationships among participants. The factors that influence the use of Javanese language are the speakers' assumptions about their social position and relationship with the person they are talking to, the presence of a third person, the tone and atmosphere of speech, themes, and norms. The social function of Javanese language in the palace for abdi dalem as an official media communication in the palace, media for creating social distance between superiors and subordinates, as an expression of respect, strengthening the position of the king, creating sincere/polite attitudes among subordinates and superiors.
