Abstract
"nSelf - injury or self mutilation is one of the destructive behaviours in which the"nindividual generally hurts his own body and his attempts to injure himself lead"nto physical pain and suffer."nIn the existence of self - injury behaviours some different reasons should be"ntaken into consideraticn . Perhaps the most important causes of this behavious"nare the disability to express the feelings, anger and aggression, reduction of"ntolerance while facing the stresses and tensions and finally fear and feeling of"nbeing sinful."nSelf - injury should be recognized as a symptom of different types of mental"ndisorders and some organic disarders . Such as encephalilis and Adison' s"ndisease."nIn order to achieve a successful treatment, the patients should be trained to"nreduce their tension and anger by means of comforting techniques ,"nconsidering the individual health and physical demands and elevating the level"nof his skills to solve the problems."nHaving Knowledge about disease and awareness of the causes of self - injury"nbehaviours, it can be helpful to the patients in prevention of such behaviours."nIndex of Terms:
