Abstract: This article aims to shed light on the concept of tolerance, its intellectual roots and the beginning of its philosophical grounding, but the causes of intolerance have changed over time. The contemporary period witnessed many types of violence and extremism that gave way to the rise of hate speech, which stems mainly from the issue of difference and the lack of appreciation of the other who is different from me in culture, customs, traditions and history, and the misunderstanding of the idea of multiple unity, that is, unity within difference and difference within unity, which narrowed the space for the values of tolerance and peace. This prompted us to research the importance and place of education today in the practice of tolerance. Some philosophical approaches that see education as an opportunity towards the possibility of coexistence based on the foundations of earthly citizenship, consolidating the values of common human origin and common human destiny, and expanding the circle of tolerance from human tolerance to ecological tolerance.
