Opportunities and challenges of the restaurant industry in Vietnam in the new normal period

After the Covid-19 pandemic, the restaurant industry has gradually regained its stability and is carrying out a wide range of activities, such as utilizing the support of the government, enlisting the support of domestic customers, grasping the normal period, and taking advantage of developed delivery services to maintain operations and gradually recover. This study used a literature review method with sources used byg updated studies and experimental studies published in journals of the Web of Science. The contents of the articles are analyzed in depth to select the appropriate information (content analysis) to (1) identify the opportunities and challenges of the restaurant industry in Vietnam in the new normal period; and (2) provide business implications for restaurants in Vietnam. The results show that the restaurant industry opportunities in Vietnam during the new normal period include government support, support for local customers and communities, the new normal, and delivery service developed. Industry challenges include competition, reduced purchasing power, expense, economy, labor shortage, and pandemic.
