POPULAR INNOVATION TO ACCESS THE WATER: TECHNOLOGY, CREATIVITY AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION IN THE BARRIO LUIS R. CALVO (SANTA MARTA - COLOMBIA)
Abstract
The popular innovation can be understood as a network of practices and knowledge that link technologies from diverse origins and purpose with local knowledge to solve problems usually linked to the satisfaction of basic needs. This article explore the concept of popular innovation through an exercise of popular innovation system to access water, created by a migrant population by the Armed conflict in Colombia in the city of Santa Marta (Colombia). In this case we found that different artifacts, techniques and local knowledge to access to water, constitute a socio-technical system to resolve in alternative, creative and communitarian way, one of many socio-political problems that affects the community with which this research was conducted
