The Nephropathy Committee of the Argentine Diabetes Society on December 14, 2013 held its Annual Conference where the topic “Sodium glucose 2 cotransportation inhibitors, gliflozins, a new class of oral antidiabetic drugs” was reviewed. This new class of oral antidiabetics has the particularity of not acting through insulin. The mechanism of inhibition is independent of circulating insulin levels or sensitivity.
