Otolaryngology case reports phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor of the sinonasal area: A case report
Abstract
Background: phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) is a rare neoplasm in which the tumor cells produce fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23), leading to oncogenic osteomalacia and thus a distinct clinical presentation. Case presentation: A 39-year-old male patient presented with 6 months history of progressive weakness in the legs and feet, which was later accompanied by upper extremity pain and left-sided nose blockade. On examination, was found to have a left-sided nasal cavity mass. Histopathologic examination was suggestive of PMT.
