Régis Debray et le Théologico-Politique
Abstract
Concern about religion is more intimately connected to human psyche than the Age of Enlightenment could think. Politics itself cannot be conceive without any kind of transcendence (not necessarily theological), the very mean which can unite people in the long term. So it is not amazing if, nowadays, the universal kingdom of merchantile calculation come with, as its counterpart, the revival of ethnic and religious claims. These Régis Debray’s thesis lead to a discussion with Marcel Gauchet about «religion’s exit».
