The relevance of the study is predetermined by a situation of educational space transformation that is aggravated with total informational support of modern culture. In this regard the goal of the study is to consider the concept of lifelong learning as the most fulfilled model of the educational process corresponding to tendencies of modern cultural space. While implementing the goal it was revealed that the rendering of the educational process as an formation instrument of the harmonious personality (position of liberal approach) does not correspond to public needs of the postmodern project, as well as the educational process orientation only on professional training (a position of utilitarian approach). The authors come to conclusion that both earlier-formed approaches should be added with ideas of education throughout all human life (as one line of the lifelong learning concept), providing formation of the holistic personality and giving the opportunity to a person to build own identity, being in postmodern society.
