Devociones politicas y oratoria salubrista: Sobre un plan de reforma hospitalaria en la Nueva Granada (1790).
Abstract
The article proposes a reading of the “Plan of the Constitutions Presented to His Excellency the Viceroy of the Kingdom for San Pedro’s Royal Hospital in the Parish of Zipaquirá, ” written by Pedro Fermín de Vargas, corregidor (chief Spanish colonial judge) at that time and one of the most outstanding illustrious persons in New Granada. Said plan reveals the introduction of some of the political, medical and hygiene-related ideas then in vogue in Europe into local hospital institutions at the end of the 18th century.
