Digital Welfare – From the Perspective of Nordic Values and Rights

Abstract

In this essay, I offer some critical reflections on how digitalisation and datafication may challenge the values and principles that underpin the Nordic welfare state, and as such inform the relationship between the citizens and the state. In response to these challenges, I argue that we should apply a human-rights-based approach when assessing the strength and weaknesses of existing solutions, as well as when developing new systems and services.
